India has the second-highest number of obese children in the world study, which shows that 14.4 million kids in the country have excess weight.

Obesity is often considered the mother of all diseases. Obesity is currently affecting lives at an alarming rate. Obesity is caused by a blend of overeating, lack of physical activity, and sometimes genetic causes.

Children and adolescents in India are at high danger of obesity and related serious health problems. These days kids are more likely to have high blood pressure or high cholesterol due to their food habits and lifestyle. They are also at higher risk for diabetes are also prone to develop bone and joint problems.

Children who are obese are more probable to be obese adults.

With time children and adolescents who are overweight and obese are likely to develop a number of health problems which can include diabetes and high blood pressure, heart and blood vessel disease, certain types of cancer, arthritis, and chronic kidney disease.

 

According to some studies, childhood obesity is related to a higher risk of kidney disease over time. Kidneys are blood-filtering organs of your body that can be harassed by obesity. High blood pressure and high blood sugar from diabetes can place an extra strain on your kidneys. The kidneys may also have to work tougher to meet the extra demand from the excess weight.

As per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average weight for 10 years old boy in 1966 was 33.65 kg. While in 2002, it was 39.9 kg. Average weight of 15 years old girl in 1966 was around 56.33 kg. Whereas 2002 it increased to 60.87kg. This evidently shows incline in average weight of children over the period.

Doctors suggest the intaking of a variety of foods for battling obesity

According to doctors and medical experts, the crucial step in improving one’s health is to bring the BMI to 22 or less.

 

Eating whole fruits with fiber, vegetables, whole grains and millets, nuts, white meat like fish, poultry for proteins, plant oils like groundnut, mustard oil, til, flower oils. Eat home food, chew properly, and drink more water and other calorie-free beverages, this should be coupled with physical activity for about 45 minutes daily.
