Kidney Disease Diet Tips: Foods for Healthy Kidneys & Foods to Avoid

Kidney patients have a very restricted diet, we all know that. But what are the foods that affect
the kidneys and in what ways? On the occasion of World Food Day, we had a session with Ms.
Karishma Shah and she delivered some knowledge on “Awareness of Diet in CKD”. Let us dive
right into it.

Even if you keep CKD apart, you should be aware of their food intake. If someone is a CKD
patient they must be very vigilant about what they eat. Education regarding the same is also of
utmost importance. Ms. Karishma shared some insights on what CKD patients should eat and
how they should it, which goes as follows:-
● Preference should be to foods that are rich in Anti-Oxidants as they help to get rid of free
radicals
● You can also add Carrots, Sprouts, Cucumber, and Cauliflower to the diet as a means of
adequate protein intake to lower Creatinine Levels.
● Also, keep in check what vegetables can be taken raw since it going to pressurize the
kidneys which will have adverse effects on the body when someone is suffering from
CKD


Remedies for Chronic Kidney Diseases

CKD or Chronic Kidney Disease can not be reversed which affects everything from Mental
health to of course your physical health. Although it can not be reversed, Ms. Karishma Shah
gave some remedies to lessen its effects by choosing our food intake. They are as follows:-
● Radish leave juice is proven to have good effects in terms of Renal failure, it must be
taken twice a day for best results
● Beetroot also has amazing effects, but it should not be taken raw it should always be
cooked.
● Ayurvedic remedy for Kidney failure is Tomato Juice, it should be taken with a tint of
pepper and salt. It is advised to start your day with the same.


Management for CKD

One of the biggest issues in CKD remains to be its management. Since Kidneys are vital
organs, their management can be difficult. Ms. Karishma Shah has broken down the
management of Kidneys which goes as follows:-
● Keep your blood pressure in check
● Meet your blood Glucose goal if you have Diabetes.
● Work with a Dietician and develop a diet chart
Being aware will help you lessen your CKD-related problems and you will be able to take
responsibility for the same.
